Most Commonly Mispelled English Words

Below are ten words I'd like to share with all of you. They don't look particularly difficult or even hard to spell, but you'd be surprised how many students would spell them incorrectly.

1. Definitely

I've seen it spelled 'definately'

2. Unnecessary

I've seen this one spelled 'unneccessary'

3. Embarrassing

This one can be embarrassing as I've seen it spelled 'embarassing'

4. Dilemma

Some of my students spell it 'dielemma'

5. Irresistible

'Irrsistable'

6. Tomorrow

Have you seen it spelled 'tommorrow'

7. Separate

This one can be tricky. Seen this one spelled 'seperately'

8. Business

Never spell it bussiness'

9. Environment

Remember to pronounce the 'n' sound in the word. If not, you may write this 'enviroment' by accident.

10. Independent

Many still have problems with this one. Remember to use only 'e' in the word and no 'a'
